Posted November 14, 2018 09:06:46Art gallery diamond art kit will open its doors in Melbourne on January 9, 2019.
Artist and photographer Lizzie Sargent has worked with many of the city’s most renowned artists over the years, but she’s never been so inspired by a gallery space.
“It’s an art gallery, but it’s a little more than that,” she said.
“There’s lots of art that I’ve been wanting to do for a long time, I’ve always wanted to create something, but I’ve never been able to.”
I’m hoping that we can make something that I think is a bit different.
“Ms Sargeth said the gallery was an “artist in residence” that would provide an opportunity for artists and students alike to work with the city.”
We’re going to be bringing in artists who are really passionate about their craft, and who can bring to the table their ideas, their ideas of what they want to do with their art,” she explained.”
You can have a little bit of a different perspective.
“Art students in particular are really creative, but they also need to have a certain kind of mindset and the ability to see themselves as artists in their own right.”
Ms Lizzies gallery will be open from 1:00pm-4:00am, Monday to Friday, and will have the largest collection of contemporary art in Melbourne.
The exhibition will include a collection of original paintings, collages and works of art, along with an extensive selection of prints, prints and murals, as well as a gallery of contemporary design.
“When I think of my favourite piece of art I’m usually looking at the original work, but when I see the works that are made by other people I find them very interesting,” Ms Sarget said.
Art lovers will be able to view a selection of artworks by local and international artists on the exhibition’s wall.
“In my heart, I’m looking for something that reflects the things that I love and I’m very passionate about,” Ms Lizzys art curator, Michelle Murch, said.
Ms Murch said she and Ms Saggs art partner would also be able offer a unique opportunity for people to “try and learn more about the art world”.
“It’ll be a really cool experience for people who like art to come see some of the work that they might not otherwise know about,” she added.
“And it’s going to give them an opportunity to learn about art and art history.”
Ms Muth said that the exhibition would be one of the first to take place in Melbourne, and that the space was “not only a place for art, but also for a conversation about community and education”.
“We hope that it’ll also be a place where people can come together and really have a bit of fun and a bit more of a sense of community,” she concluded.
